1 Year Warehouse Launch

Why Cask Trade launched the warehouse in March 2025

Since its founding in 2018, Cask Trade has focused on building a transparent and trusted global marketplace for buying and selling whisky casks. As the company grew, opening its own warehouse became the natural next step in that journey.

The launch of the facility in Forres allowed Cask Trade to bring more of the cask ownership process under one roof. With capacity for up to 25,000 casks, the bonded warehouse was designed to improve the management and oversight of client whisky while strengthening long-term infrastructure.

Cask Trade CEO & Founder, Simon Aron, commented at the time of launch:

"Opening our own warehouse is a natural progression for the business and will enhance the effective management system of our client's whisky, something we have been working hard to make even better over 2024. This will allow us to provide Delivery Orders (DOs) with greater ease for customers who wish to have one. The amazing location also means we can offer a total single cask whisky experience for our customers. "

Just as importantly, the new site allowed Cask Trade to deepen its commitment to transparency. Owning and operating a warehouse enables greater control over cask handling, documentation and delivery orders, ensuring clients have a clearer view of their cask’s journey from filling casks through to potential bottling or sale.

What the warehouse brings to Cask Trade customers

The Cask Trade Warehouse was built with the customer experience at its heart.

Firstly, it enhances the management and security of clients’ whisky. Housing casks within Cask Trade’s own facility allows the team to streamline processes such as re-gauging, sampling and issuing delivery orders when customers choose to move or bottle their cask.

Secondly, the warehouse creates an immersive whisky experience that simply wasn’t possible before. The facility includes a dedicated tasting room where clients can take part in masterclasses, sample whisky directly from their own cask and even witness the bottling of their liquid. Since March 2025, Cask Trade have:

  1. Finished the rennovation of their bespoke tasting room

  2. Moved hundreds of client casks under their own roof

  1. Hosted 8 public open days for clients

  1. Run numerous private trips for global clients

  1. Engaged with high profile whisky bottlings as a result of the new facility and experience on offer

Why Forres - and Speyside - is worth the visit

Choosing Forres as the home of the warehouse was no coincidence.

Situated in Speyside, Scotland’s largest malt whisky region, the town sits at the centre of one of the most important whisky landscapes in the world. The warehouse is surrounded by more than 50 renowned single malt distilleries, making it the perfect base for exploring “Malt Whisky Country.”

Forres itself is a historic and picturesque town in Moray, often referred to as the “Flower of Scotland”. It lies just 30 minutes from Inverness and within easy reach of Aberdeen, making it highly accessible for visitors travelling from the UK and beyond.

Beyond the distilleries, the region offers a wealth of experiences. Visitors can explore the dramatic landscapes of the Cairngorms National Park, enjoy the beaches and wildlife of the Moray Firth, or visit nearby castles that define the Highland landscape.
