Welcome to the Cask Trade Warehouse
In a milestone move, we have opened our own bonded warehouse which elevates clients’ cask ownership experience through optimised service and the opportunity to visit your cask. All of this is in in the biggest malt whisky region in Scotland, Speyside. The unit, located in Forres, has the capacity for up to 25,000 casks, meaning clients of Cask Trade can store their cask under our very own roof.

The new location enhances the effective management of clients’ whisky, something we have been working to continually improve over 2024. It will allow for Delivery Orders (DOs) to be provided with greater ease for customers who wish to have one, while ensuring cask management efficiencies can be made under one roof.

The bonded warehouse, with bespoke tasting room, allows customers to enjoy whisky masterclasses hosted by industry experts, taste whisky straight from their cask, and even watch their own single cask be bottled. From start to finish, our customers have full visibility of their cask’s journey.

Situated in Forres, our warehouse is just 30 minutes from Inverness airport, surrounded by more than 50 world renowned single malt distilleries and a range of hotels. Cask Trade Warehouse
When does the Cask Trade Warehouse open?
The Cask Trade Warehouse is now open! We have been working hard to make sure the space is ready for the casks to move into straight away, along with the ability to offer our services for our clients. Currently (March 2025) we are moving priority casks into the facility. In the near future, we will extend this offer to both new and existing customers. Make sure you are signed up to our email to keep up to date with warehouse service updates.
Can I move my cask to the Cask Trade Warehouse?
We offer cask storage and movement providing there is suitable space in our warehouse. Please contact us to speak to one of our account managers about warehousing for cask whisky.
Is the Cask Trade warehouse better than a distillery warehouse?
While distillery warehouses are trustworthy and secure, there are benefits to storing your cask at our warehouse as one of our clients. Having our own facility means we can elevate customer experience with direct access to the casks. This ensures even quicker cask maintenance and streamlines communications. Also, for private individuals, we can offer the opportunity to open a private account for your cask to be held under your name, through issuing a DO.
Can I visit my cask?
Yes of course, we would love to welcome you to our warehouse. You will be able to visit your cask, watch a regauge, and draw a sample at the same time if you wish. We also have an on-site tasting room where you will be able to sample liquid direct from the cask. Please speak to your account manager who can help to arrange a cask visit.
Can I bottle my cask at the new warehouse?
Yes. Our warehouse is located next door to an established bottling facility. We can assist with everything from label design, printing, bottle options, and shipping to your final location.
What are the Cask Trade Warehouse management and storage fees?
- Account Opening Fee - £50
- DO Fee - £30 per DO
- Cask Storage (Barrel/Hogshead) - £0.75 per week
- Cask Storage (Butt/Puncheon) - £1.00 per week
- Sample - £45
- Regauge - £50
- Sample + Regauge together - £85
- Re-rack - £75 plus cost of cask
- Cask Movement In/Movement out - £30 per cask
(Prices are plus VAT where applicable)
Can I Receive a Delivery Order (DO)?
Yes. We can provide a DO or transfer of ownership at any warehouse, provided you have an open account with that bonded warehouse.
What Services Do You Provide and Manage?
Sampling - You can draw a duty-free sample of up to 200ml
Regauging - This is a health check to measure the current volume and ABV of your cask
Re-racking - The transfer of the liquid from the original cask into a new cask for finishing to achieve a specific colour and flavour profile
Movements - If you have casks lying at a specific bond, we can facilitate movement at your request
Do You Host Open Days at the Cask Trade Warehouse?
Yes. We host quarterly open days at our warehouse. Make sure you are registered with us to keep up to date with exciting opportunities to visit the beautiful region of Speyside.
