5 Drams for 5 Years - Hugh Troup

Charlie

As part of the ongoing 5 year anniversary celebrations of Cask Trade we asked 5 of our account managers to pick out their favourite drams from the stock list.

Orkney Island Single Malt 14 year old

This week we had the pleasure of speaking to the effervescent Hugh Troup about his favourite dram of the moment:

“At the moment my favourite dram is a secret Orkney Island single malt 14 year old. The reason being, it is your perfect balance of smoke and sweet with these lovely nutty floral tones that come through. It’s got a beautiful, smouldering gentle finish there too.

The distillery is about 220 years old and the reason I love it is because everything is done in-house. They cut their own peat seven miles down the road at Hobbister Moor. They have their own maltings there where they malt the barley and the flavour profile is about as broad and balanced as you're going to find in the industry. So honestly, one of my favourite drams of all time.”
