Growing Our Community
We are welcoming more and more people into the Cask Trade community. Some are whisky enthusiasts, others are new to the world of casks. With an exciting year up ahead, we wanted to re-introduce ourselves. Did you know…
We have the world’s best cask stocklist
Our experts strive to provide a market-leading variety of casks with provenance, meaning we have an unrivalled inventory of aged whisky and rum. As we are constantly buying and selling casks, our stock list rotates regularly, giving you a wide range of tastes and ages to choose from. There is no minimum spend, the starting point is the price of a cask with casks currently starting at £1,750. In the past five years, over 170 distilleries have been represented from across the world of whisky, rum, cognac and Armagnac. You will not find this variety elsewhere.

We are stockists, not brokers
All the casks we sell are owned by us. We are not a brokerage. Because we own all the casks we sell this gives you a 100% transactional guarantee and the knowledge that we will manage, sample and quality control from day one. We treat your cask as a whisky and not just a commodity.
We are backed by stats
At any one time, we have 50 plus different varieties of cask whisky to offer our customers. These span a huge 50-year age mark, from 1973 to 2023. In the past six years, we have sold 11,000 casks to 2,100 customers across six continents.
You can sample your cask
Did you know every customer who purchases a cask receives a free sample? The sample is taken from the cask you have purchased or is an indicative sample. Subsequent samples can be requested; the cost is approximately £50-£100 per cask (+ postage for the sample). Similarly, a regauge costs approximately £50-£100, depending on the cask and the warehouse where it is located. Cask Trade requests samples and regauges from the specific warehouse and invoices the customer accordingly.

We don’t sell pallets
We will never encourage you to buy more than one, let alone an entire pallet, of the same cask. We encourage customers to build a diverse portfolio of casks from different distilleries of varying ages. For tips on how to build a balanced portfolio and what to avoid, click here.
No claims bonus
2025 will mark Cask Trade’s sixth anniversary, and, to date, no customer has made an insurance claim. If your whisky cask is held under our WOWGR, we insure it under our comprehensive stock insurance policy. If, for whatever reason, the cask gets damaged you have the peace of mind that it is insured.
No loss from leaks
A cask is a handcrafted thing of beauty – but did you know if your casks leaks, then Cask Trade will credit you for those lost litres so you won’t lose out? Casks are made of wooden staves expertly held together with metal hoops, the barrel head, and end. Access to the liquid is via a hole closed with a rubber bung. These casks sit patiently and relatively undisturbed for many years as the liquid ages therefore, the likelihood of a leak is low.

We offer customary cask check-up
As part of our cask management programme, all casks over 13 years old are given a health check. Much like you might go to the doctor for an MOT, once it reaches 13 years and above, we ‘dip’ your cask to ensure it is fit and well. We check for the amount of liquid in the cask, the ABV (Alcohol by Volume) and the RLA (Regauged Litres of Alcohol).
We run a very personal service
We thrive on sharing our passion for the liquid and pride ourselves on offering a very personal service. To this end, we never take institutional money. By this, we mean capital from large investment or insurance companies, pensions, endowments, hedge funds and mutual funds. Institutional investors pool money from many investors to invest in financial instruments like stocks, bonds and funds.

Did you know we have our own 12-seater tasting room in the heart of central London? Our whisky masters are always keen to meet other enthusiasts and will even show you our library of more than 300 cask samples.
